For your budding musician aged 5 to 7 years old Kindermusik for the Young Child provides an exciting, pressure-free class where your child can develop a strong musical foundation by learning the concepts, language, notation and vocabulary of music and its greatest composers. Through a variety of fun things for children and engaging activities Young Child students explore rhythm, notation, musical symbols and authentic pre-keyboard, string and woodwind instruments – as well as their own instrument, the voice. During the 4 semesters the children will learn to play glockenspiel, dulcimer and recorder as well as a variety of percussion instruments.

"In their class, Music for the Young Child, our boys have explored music from around the world through movement and play, while developing real skills and an understanding of music principles that has built a solid foundation for future musical endeavors. Miss Suzanne is a patient, playful instructor whom my children and I adore. We could not recommend the class enough!" A.M.

What the children will experience in a Level 5/Young Child class:

"Kindermusik is a great way to introduce young children to musical concepts in a fun, encouraging environment. After going through the program, my son was able to transition easily into learning an instrument, and I feel that was in great part due to the strong foundation he received from Kindermusik with Suzanne." T.M.

Additional information about my classes:

Please make sure you arrive a few minutes early and that your child uses the bathroom before coming into class.
Parents or caregivers attend only the last 10-15 minutes of class, however at least one adult from the group must be on the premises during the entire class. Please sign the rota during the first class. Siblings may attend sharing time providing they do not cause a distraction.

In order to maximize their learning each child will receive a set of At Home Materials. There will be an “assignment” each week to continue the learning experience at home - your assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. These home based activities will be a great way to help your child establish regular routines of practice necessary for success once they begin formal lessons on an instrument, such as piano, violin, trumpet or drums!
Please remember to bring the home materials and instruments to class each week.
