Kindermusik Level 3 for 3 to 5 year olds. To the casual observer it might look as if we are just playing and having fun, however every aspect of this Kindermusik curriculum is built upon a solid developmental and musical foundation. Level 3 classes engage preschoolers’ natural love of music and activate their imaginations. A wide range of learning opportunities boosts language skills, confidence, independence, social-emotional skills, and self-control. You are invited to join the fun for a portion at the end of each class, sharing in the joy of music-making and learning how your child is developing, all while strengthening your relationship with your child.
"It is wonderful to watch my daughter be excited about learning, while developing the necessary life skills in a fun environment. Miss Suzanne’s passion and love for her classes makes every child enthusiastic about learning. No achievement (no matter how big or small) goes unnoticed. Extremely informative and productive lessons whereby the impact on my childs’s development, coordination, musical recognition and self confidence in a group/social situations is clearly evident. We love Kindermusik and look forward to this class every week!" H.B.
Preschoolers are learning to be self-sufficient in a group setting of peers, while many times still needing the emotional security provided by a parent/caregiver. They will experience both in a Level 3 class. Adults attend only the final 10 to 15 minutes of the classes but if your child is having a particularly hard time separating from you don’t panic – you are free to stay until they are comfortable.
At least one adult from the group must be on the premises (usually in the kitchen area – relaxing, not cooking!) during the entire class to assist with trips to the bathroom or unexpected situations that may arise. Please sign the rota during the first class.
Please make sure you arrive a few minutes early and that your child uses the bathroom before coming into class. The first few minutes of each class are given to a “gathering” time before we sing the “Hello Song”. This enables your child to make a smooth transition into the Kindermusik class.
Adults join the children for the final 10 to 15 minutes of the class. Please return punctually, (your child will be upset if you are not there and all the other adults are) and wait outside. I will let you know when it is time to enter the classroom. Your child will be very excited to see you; please spend a few moments “reconnecting” with them, and then encourage them to sit down and continue with the class. Your eagerness to participate will encourage their cooperation. Do not be surprised if their behavior is a little “unruly” during this time. For 30 minutes they have been focusing on the teacher and sometimes they have a conflict in loyalties when their adult joins the class. They can be unsure which adult is now in charge and this may be reflected in the way they behave.
Since sharing time is so short you may bring siblings provided they do not cause a distraction.
Everything a parent needs to read the class story, play a game, do a fingerplay or dance, teach new words or instrument sounds, plan an activity, do a craft, follow a recipe, take a 'field trip' (real or imagined), or play pretend . . . it's all in the children's home materials.
Each semester we will explore 4 themes filled with delightfully engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for 3 to 5 year olds that inspire a lifelong love of music and lay a strong early foundation for learning.
An important part of Level 3 is continuing the musical activities at home with your child’s best teacher – you!
